10 Things I Hate About Fibro Drs February 11th, 2007
1. Doctors seem to forget that many of their patients, given the same opportunities, could be their colleagues. On the off chance they realize this, they don’t want to be your doctor anymore.
2. Doctors don’t have to sit in the waiting room between patients. I assure you this would eliminate my long wait in the exam room!
3. Doctors have complete control over the most important record you will ever have, deciding what goes in and what stays out. Patients, on the other hand, never get to add their personal insight or other assesment on the doctor. Even your credit record affords you the opportunity to dispute a claim! When is it going to become law that we get a free annual copy of our medical record with instructions on disputing anything?
4. Doctors never answer their own office phones. Every message passed along reminds me of the childhood game of Pass it On… by the time the message goes through three people, it is so distorted that no one knows what the hell the other was talking about.
5. Doctors are allowed to forget about your pain and suffering the minute they send you out the door with nothing but an appointment to come back in three weeks. We should all be given a vice at check in to tighten on some part of their body that directly correlates to the pain we have and it doesn’t come off until our pain has been aliviated.
6. Doctors are never wrong.
7. Doctors feel patients can never be right.
8. Doctors tell me to get more exercise, despite my illness, while they are paying someone else to raise their children, mow their lawn, clean their house, do their laundry, and wash their car(s).
9. Doctors will never utter the words, “I might need to study up on that, it has been a while since I’ve dealt with it.”
10. Doctors, and this one really pisses me off, never have Fibromyalgia.
