I have the rash on my nose and cheeks and neck.  The rash does not spare the nasal folds, though.  Does it have to spare the nasal folds if you're diagnosed with lupus?  Also does it mean anything if it doesn't spare the nasal folds?

Thanks.

Hello CindyLou, it's nice to meet you
Sorry to hear your problems with a rash. I'm not sure if it affects the nasal folds or not as everyone is different and some don't get the typical red butterfly rash across the bridge of their nose. It seems to appear on the fair skinned woman more so than dark skinned women.
Have you had any bumps up or around your nose? Or oral ulcers? Right now I'm trying to keep my oral ulcers at bay with a prescription mouth wash. I hope you don't get the nasal ulcers as we have one member that gets them and says it is quite painful.

Hang in there perhaps someone has experienced a rash in their nasal fold and could share with you their story.

I've had the same rash on my nose and it extends right down across my cheeks.  I have it on my neck also.  It's been like that same exact rash for 11 years.  I have never had any bumps at all.  It's a smooth rash.  The rhuemy said the rash is a connective tissue disease?  No ulcers either.  I know most people have the rash that spares the nasal folds.

Cindy Lou,
Do you have a photo to share with us?
You can send me one at LupusWebsite@aol.com and I'll post it for you.

In the mean time here is some links with photos if you see one that resembles yours perhaps that will be helpful.
Does your rash look like any of these?
Remember no two patients are identical in symptoms.

I don't have a photo.  I see these photos, that the rash spares the nasal folds.  My rash looks like butterfly wings where the cheeks are.  Then it stops.  It goes straight from the nose right down.  But the thing I was wondering is that mine covers the folds of the nose.  Do you have any other pictures that I could see.
