Cross-country cyclist checks in from Washington state
Friday Jun 12, 2009
Jean-Marc (JM) Dykes, a 2005 Marblehead High graduate, received his degree in English literature May from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, May 20. A little over a week later, on May 28, he set out on his bicycle from Vancouver, riding home to Marblehead to raise awareness and funds for research into lupus for Brigham and Women's Hospital in honor of his former art teacher, Debra Highberger, who suffers from the disease.
He recently checked in from Whitefish, Mont., where he found a computer to send along the photos above.
Find out more about his efforts, learn about lupus, follow his journey and make donations at lupusride.com. Dykes is expected to arrive in Marblehead in late July or early August.
